Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Burrito w/ Falafel, Hummus, & Tzatziki

June 6, 2021

This week I have been in full on Falafel mode. I made everything from the Falafel Balls and Pita Bread to the Hummus and Tzatziki. Which was absolutely delicious and well worth the endeavor! Although, much like how hot dogs and buns never come in […]

Falafel w/ Hummus, Tzatziki, Radish, & Sprouts

June 3, 2021

My garden produce is beginning to ripen. It may only be starting with the the radish! But fresh produce is fresh produce. And I am quite excited at its presence. Now, what exactly to make with radish was another endeavor. The obvious is salad and, […]

Falafel w/ Dill & Green Onions

June 3, 2021

Falafel is one of my favorite Middle Eastern meals. It’s surprisingly simple to make and doesn’t even require cooking chickpeas, which is not necessarily my favorite thing! Although there is a lot of misinformation about making falafel, which can make it seem like a more […]

Pita Bread w/ All-Purpose & Whole Wheat Flour

June 3, 2021

I have been in full on falafel mode lately. I’ve spent the last couple of days soaking chickpeas for Hummus and Falafel. As well as tossing together Tzatziki, which really only takes a couple of minutes and a cheese grater or zester! Which all must […]

The Fundamentals of Making Hummus

June 1, 2021

I am a huge fan of hummus. It’s easy to make from scratch and infinitely more delicious than store bought varieties. It’s difficult to make a hummus recipe, though, without contemplating: chickpeas or garbanzo beans? These are, in fact, different words for the exact same […]

Burrito w/ Vermicelli, Kohlrabi, & Avocado

May 30, 2021

The other day I made Vermicelli Salad w/ Kohlrabi & Avocado. This is an absolutely delicious salad with tofu, peanuts, carrots, bell peppers, jalapeños, ginger, garlic, tahini, tamari, rice vinegar, and avocado. I’m not ordinarily one for salads, though. Salads are all fine and dandy. […]

Vermicelli Salad w/ Kohlrabi & Avocado

May 30, 2021

I went to my favorite kind of out of the way grocery store and ended up with kohlrabi. Now, I wasn’t necessarily intending to make vermicelli and kohlrabi salad with it, but I am certainly not disappointed with the outcome! I have become obsessed with […]

Greek Yogurt Dip w/ Lemon & Dill

May 27, 2021

It’s my birthday this week and I endeavored to make salmon. But I wanted to drizzle something on top of it as a kind of fancy sauce. And now I don’t entirely know what to call this Greek yogurt dip! I was originally thinking that […]

Spinach Pesto w/ Greek Yogurt & Dill

May 27, 2021

I have gotten more spinach than I know what to do with lately! And, since I’ve also been making bread for weeks, it seems only fitting that I make actual dip. Exactly what dip? I wasn’t quite so sure. But, I have been buying Greek […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
