Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Roasted Blue Hubbard Squash Seeds

November 28, 2021

This may have more seeds per pound than any other squash or pumpkin that I have roasted for eating purposes. They’re bigger and meatier than most squash seeds. Ending up with a kind of bitter flavor profile. Partially because they do take so much longer […]

Roasted Blue Hubbard Squash

November 28, 2021

I didn’t even go to the grocery store for squash. I was meeting up with a friend in the area, so a quick jaunt to run errands turned into a whole day of activities. But I did, what most people do when they are at […]

Burrito w/ Quinoa, Cucumbers, Carrots, & Avocados

November 25, 2021

This is kind of a sushi burrito. I made Ahi Tuna Sushi the other day and cut up far too many vegetables for it! So, I have plenty of sliced cucumbers, carrots, and avocados that I only have so much time to use. I also […]

Sushi w/ Ahi Tuna, Cucumbers, Carrots, & Avocados

November 25, 2021

I have never made sushi before. I have helped in the endeavor. I had friends in college who liked to make vegan sushi rolls. So, I have been an accomplice in the making. But have never played the predominant role! Nevertheless, I have ahi tuna […]

Rice Cooker Sushi Rice

November 25, 2021

I was pretty sure that I had sushi rice and nori. It’s one of those things that I always think about making, but never quite actually end up doing. So, in the spirit of following through on trivial life goals, I am going to make […]

Burrito w/ Apple, Walnut Quinoa, & Runny Egg

November 21, 2021

Fall is in full swing and I’ve been craving fruit and nuts in absolutely everything. Maybe it’s the thought of pie in the air? And probably a fair to do with growing up in apple country. But I consider fall a time for apples and […]

Salad w/ Ahi Tuna Steak, Tamari Quinoa, & Apples

November 21, 2021

It’s like someone flipped a switch and it’s all of sudden fall. The leaves have started falling. Rain has set in. The scent of nutmeg is in the air. I just started putting out Halloween decorations. And I found myself picking up an entire bushel […]

Quinoa w/ Apples, Red Chilis, & Walnuts

November 18, 2021

I have been making a bunch of rice lately. But fall is in the air. The leaves are changing. It’s been raining.. And I am breaking out the skeleton bones, ghosts, and ghouls. But I also have the last of my peppers still ripening! And […]

Marinated Apples w/ Tamari & Apple Cider Vinegar

November 18, 2021

I knew that I was going to make Ahi Tuna Steaks and was looking for some kind of accoutrement. I made Quinoa yesterday with fresh apples, red chilis, apple cider vinegar, and tamari. All of which would pair well with Sesame Crusted Tuna. So, I […]

Halloween Spring Rolls w/ Squid Ink

November 14, 2021

These are really the exact same seafood and vegan spring rolls that I’ve been making. But it is Halloween! And I do have squid ink in my refrigerator. So, I couldn’t help but turn this concoction into a festive themed dish. I’ve sautéed a couple […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
