Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Vermicelli Salad w/ Cucumber & Tofu

August 5, 2021

I am incredibly fond of making vermicelli salad. I’ve been making it in several different forms over the last couple of weeks. It’s more or less a no-fry stir fry with a plethora of fresh fruits and vegetables mixed in with tahini, tamari, rice vinegar, […]

Burrito w/ Spinach Pie & Avocado Dip

August 1, 2021

I made Spinach Pie w/ Tomatoes the other day. And I’m always hesitant about turning a full-fledged meal into a burrito. After all, I do tend to turn everything into a burrito! But spinach pie is a self-contained dish. It’s not a side salad. It’s […]

Spinach Pie w/ Tomatoes

August 1, 2021

II was re-reading through my Spinach Pie recipe from Thanksgiving. I made two of them around that time. I was kind of planning on mixing things up a bit. Maybe to add tomatoes and maybe some Greek yogurt? Which I guess would make it more […]

Bruschetta w/ Avocado Dip, Tomatoes, & Runny Egg

July 29, 2021

I’ve been calling a lot of things “bruschetta” lately. They. aren’t exactly what I think of when I think of bruschetta! They may be more adeptly open-faced sandwiches. But, at its core, bruschetta is simply toasted bread that is topped. So, the term is somewhat […]

Avocado Dip w/ Greek Yogurt & Walnuts

July 25, 2021

I have been obsessed with this avocado dip lately. With a mix of avocados, tahini, and Greek yogurt? I’ve been calling it a cross between hummus and guacamole. I am very quickly going through all of my tahini, though! So, I decided to mix it […]

Barbecue Pizza w/ Spinach, Tomatoes, & Fresh Mozzarella

July 22, 2021

I recently acquired a barbecue. And, by “acquired,” I really just mean found along the side of the road with a “free” sign on it. Which, in my part of rural Wisconsin is actually kind of an anomaly! I’m from Oregon where thrifting and free […]

Barbecue Pizza Dough w/ Whole Wheat Flour

July 22, 2021

It’s the peak of summer and I’m in full on barbecue mode. My barbecue was actually stolen a couple of years ago. So, in defiance, I have refused to purchase another one. Although the other day I was running some errands and spotted a free […]

Spinach Pesto w/ Walnuts, Parmesan, & Dill

July 18, 2021

I’m incredibly fond of spinach pesto. I’m allergic to basil, so I need something else to make it with! And I’m really just a huge fan of spinach. It’s a nutrient-rich leafy green that has an incredibly large amount of protein. It also pops quite […]

Avocado Dip w/ Greek Yogurt, Tahini, & Serrano

July 18, 2021

My new favorite thing is Greek yogurt and avocado dip. It’s like a cross between guacamole and hummus where the sum is greater than its parts. I’m absolutely obsessed! So, it’s no wonder that I was eventually going to add hot peppers to it. I […]

Nachos w/ Vermicelli, Lettuce, & Avocado Dip

July 15, 2021

The other day I made Vermicelli Salad w/ Avocado, Cucumber, & Tomato and Avocado Dip w/ Tahini & Lemon. I still have a plethora of both in my refrigerator! And, while my go-to is ordinarily burritos. Which I absolutely have been making en masse this […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
