Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Nachos w/ Vermicelli, Zucchini, & Avocado

September 8, 2022

The other day I made Vermicelli Salad w/ Cucumber, Zucchini, & Garden Peppers. Vermicelli salads are one of my favorite dishes to make. They’re essentially an Asian take on an Italian pasta salad with a hefty amount of produce marinated in tamari and rice vinegar. […]

Enchilada Sauce w/ Thai Dragon Peppers

September 4, 2022

My first peppers of the season are beginning to ripen! This is quite late in the season. But Wisconsin had a particularly bad spring this year. It does often snow in April. Although waiting until the end of May or June to even start peppers […]

I have been anxiously awaiting the produce in my garden to ripen. It’s been a particularly wet summer and my first in the city here. So, it’s been kind of a lackluster season. It’s been hot for sure. Although there has been a distinct lack […]

Do you ever just have a long week and want a cookie? I’m kind of a cookie fiend. I can’t keep butter in the house because I’ll inevitably make cookies. If it was up to me? I’d have cookies all year round. We have this […]

Vermicelli Salad w/ Cucumber, Zucchini, & Garden Peppers

One of my friends gifted me a bunch of produce from their garden. I have produce of my own very slowly ripening on my porch and part of the alleyway that I have absconded with in between my building in the city. Which should highlight […]

The other day I made Mashed Potatoes the other day for Deep Dish Pizza Dough w/ Butter. It was absolutely delicious. Maybe one of the best pizzas that I’ve made in a little while. However, it left me with a dilemma because I still had […]

Winter is almost upon us and, as the weather is beginning to turn, I find myself craving hearty casseroles. I’ve been making a lot of Potato Bakes lately. And, as absolutely delicious as dipping my toes back into casserole season has been, it’s time to […]

The Fundamentals of Deep Dish Pizza Dough w/ Butter

I’ve been in the restaurant industry for well over a decade. I tend to like working in Italian restaurants and have thus made my fair share of pizza dough! The funny thing is that, whenever other people hear about that, they tend to ask me […]

Apparently it’s Halloween, now? I’m not entirely sure how that happened because there are MONTHS until Halloween. And you all know how mad we get when they start rolling out Christmas in October. So, letting Halloween creep into the 4th of July afterglow is just […]

Tomato Soup w/ Lentils, Potatoes, & Tofu

August 11, 2022

I didn’t start out thinking that I was going to make tomato soup today. I actually started out craving fish and chips. As absolutely delicious as that sounds, though? I don’t have any seafood. A simple solution to this would be to go to the […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
