Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Marinara w/ Fresh Tomatoes, Garlic, & Red Wine

January 26, 2023

I’ve been gearing up to make Red Wine Marinara. It’s not the most difficult of recipes. The key is really just slowly simmering tomatoes until thickened. I really dislike the way that food blogs treat tomatoes, though. It might be convenient to use canned tomatoes. […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ White Wine & Emmentaler

January 22, 2023

I’ve been craving fondue lately. Fondue requires making bread and finding gruyère and emmentaler at a reasonable price at the same time. And, as much as I absolutely adore a good Homemade Fondue, it’s not always in the cards! So, I’m doing the next best […]

Nachos w/ Chickpeas, Sweet Potatoes, & Tomatoes

January 19, 2023

I am in full on Christmas leftover mode! It’s one of my favorite times of the year. There’s absolutely nothing better than all of the food over the holidays for the next couple of days. One of my favorite lazy day meals is tossing everything […]

Burrito w/ Chickpeas, Sweet Potatoes, & Tomatoes

January 15, 2023

One of my favorite times of the year is post-Christmas leftovers! I feel like so many people don’t cook any more. The culinary arts are dying form for the masses. As people cook less and people see each other less, the prevalence of big meals […]

Candied Oranges

January 12, 2023

I made a Moroccan Orange Cake for Christmas this year. I had literally half an orange leftover at the end and, in hindsight, should have maybe bought just a couple of extra oranges. But I have just enough to make a couple of Candied Oranges. […]

Moroccan Orange Cake w/ Candied Oranges

January 8, 2023

I made a plethora of cookies for a holiday cookie exchange. Although I spent the entire time knowing that I was going to make Moroccan-inspired food! So, I almost wanted to do a Moroccan-spiced cookie to match. Although, I’ve had a ton of things going […]

Salad w/ Couscous, Spinach, & Cranberries

January 5, 2023

I like to have fun with the holidays and use them as an opportunity to make something fun and new sometimes. This year, I went with a Moroccan-inspired Christmas menu. I couldn’t decide whether I wanted a cold salad or a hot salad. Because spinach […]

Tagine w/ Tomatoes, Chickpeas, & Sweet Potatoes

January 1, 2023

All of the Moroccan-inspired Christmas dishes this year revolve around this Chickpeas Tagine. I’ve been eyeing a tagine for a while, now. It’s one of the few culinary pots that I don’t already own. So, I’m absolutely on board with picking one up for this […]

Roasted Carrots & Cauliflower w/ Tahini, Honey, & Wine

December 29, 2022

I don’t often roast vegetables on the side. I cook so many vegetarian recipes as it is, that adding more vegetables on the side almost seems superfluous. These Tahini Roasted Carrots & Cauliflower are the standout dish this Christmas. It’s one of those recipes where […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Lobster & White Wine

December 25, 2022

I’m from the West coast and grew up with crab aplenty. Lobster we didn’t have, though! And since now I live in Wisconsin and neither is plentiful, I’m branching out. Especially because one of my local grocery stores sells live lobster. I also like to […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
