Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Stir Fry w/ Fried Tofu, Broccoli, Tahini, & Peanuts

February 26, 2023

It’s false spring. It’s 50 degrees. There are sunny skies. I left my jacket in the car three days ago never went back out to get it. But it’s supposed to drop 40 degrees and snow 3-6 inches by Thursday. Which I’m delighted about because […]

Stir Fry w/ Tofu, Zucchini, Summer Squash, Peppers, & Soba

February 23, 2023

As much as I like Tofu Stir Fry, I’ve never been entirely sure whether or not I need a wok. I technically do own one. I sort of inherited it. Although it’s Teflon, so I’ve never used it. I’m not entirely opposed to Teflon. My […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Spicy Irishman Whiskey Cheddar

February 19, 2023

A little while ago I came across Spicy Irishman Whiskey Cheddar. Exactly how long ago is not important because cheese that is vacuum sealed like this lasts quite a while in the refrigerator! I was honestly a little bit worried that I had waited entirely […]

Curry w/ Roasted Cauliflower, Tahini, & Tofu

February 16, 2023

I’ve been craving curry for a little while, now. Winter is finally starting to rear its head. And there’s nothing I want more when it’s snowing than a nice, warm, curry simmering on the stove for eight hours. You can simmer for about 2 hours, […]

Roasted Cauliflower w/ Tahini, Cumin, & Wine

February 12, 2023

I made Roasted Carrots & Cauliflower over the holidays and it was absolutely the most delicious thing that I’ve made in a while! So, when I thought about making curry and was perusing the produce isle, I couldn’t help but get a head of cauliflower. […]

Baba Ghanoush w/ Opo Squash & Mayocoba Beans

February 9, 2023

I have a disparate array of ingredients. I was originally thinking that I might make tzatziki. Although I wanted to roast the squash. Which made me think of making curry, instead. But curry would be better with cubed squash, instead of puréed. Which would be […]

Quick Soak Mayocoba Beans

February 5, 2023

I don’t entirely know how I ended up with Mayocoba beans. They were likely on sale because I have a habit of hoarding dry goods like they’re going out of style. Although I always know that I’m prepared in the event that I want to […]

Roasted Opo Squash

February 2, 2023

I was perusing my favorite slightly out of the way grocery store that usually has fun produce. If you’ve ever been to Wisconsin, this is of course Woodman’s. Which no one outside of this regionally specific local, employee-owned chain that’s open 24/7 and has the […]

The Fundamentals of Quick Soak Stovetop Beans

February 1, 2023

I don’t like to soak beans overnight. There is quite a debate over whether or not this is a necessary step. And I fall kind of wishy washily on both sides. On one hand, I do think that it makes a difference. The beans that […]

Fried Garlic Bread Cheese w/ Homemade Marinara

January 29, 2023

I might be in the self-proclaimed cheese capital of the country, but finding good cheese in Wisconsin can be a bit of an adventure. This place is as well known for cheese curds as it is mayonnaise salads. But every now and then there’s something […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
