Category: Casseroles

When I think of casseroles, I oftentimes think of big holiday dishes, like sweet potato or green been casseroles. However, the casserole category is much larger than this!

A casserole is really anything slowly cooked in a casserole dish. A casserole dish is a type of large baking dish that has deep sides and is ordinarily rectangular or oval in shape.

This means that almost anything can be turned into casserole. It encompasses everything from mac ‘n’ cheese and lasagna to chicken and broccoli and hamburger helper. Many of these are largely dairy and cheese or meat-based, but you can easily make vegetarian and vegan casseroles.

They’re great to make for specific dishes or to toss leftovers into a coherent meal. A good way to mix up holiday leftovers is to turn them into a casserole. If you end up with too much turkey after Thanksgiving and are tired of sandwiches, try a turkey and noodle or wild rice casserole.

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Spinach & Mozzarella

June 19, 2022

The price of cheese has been so high lately that, every time that something’s on sale? I just buy it. I have no idea what I’m going to do with it. There is no plan. There is no rhyme or reason. I’m just buying cheese […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Cream Cheese & Serranos

June 2, 2022

I didn’t originally set out to make Cream Cheese Macaroni. Yesterday, I made a Cheese Dip w/ Sour Cream, Cream Cheese, & Serranos. As with many things that I throw together on a whim and don’t entirely know what else to do with, I’ve decided […]

Lasagna w/ Spinach & Smoked Mozzarella

April 17, 2022

When thinking about Easter, lasagna isn’t something that immediately comes to mind! After all, I’m thinking spring. Eggs. Maybe salmon. Some bright and floral cheese. Perhaps chèvre? I did even buy chèvre and then not use it. Mostly because, as much as I associate these […]

Lasagna w/ Manchego & Fresh Mozzarella

January 20, 2022

I couldn’t decide whether to make lasagna or fondue for Christmas this year. So, I bought everything for both and then made neither… I did make Quiche w/ Spinach, Ricotta, Pecans & White Wine and Macaroni & Cheese w/ Gruyère & White Wine that were […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Gruyère & White Wine

January 13, 2022

I’ve been in a Fondue mood lately. However, when it came down to actually making something for Christmas 2021? I wasn’t quite in the mood to make an entire batch of bread. Predominantly because, by the time that I had actually gotten back home on […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Hubbard Squash & Pecans

November 28, 2021

I have been experimenting with macaroni and cheese as of late. It’s one of my favorite foods. There’s nothing that I enjoy more than a nice, oozy cheese! However, as much as I adore macaroni and cheese, milk is not necessarily my friend. Let alone […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Ambercup Squash

September 26, 2021

I roasted an Ambercup Squash the other day. It’s an incredibly rich and flavorful winter squash that vaguely resembles a more intense version of butternut squash. And, while I didn’t originally intend to make squash macaroni and cheese out of this? It is always a delicious way […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Greek Yogurt & Salmon

September 2, 2021

I bought an absolutely massive fillet of salmon today. I went to Costco because I needed gas and I had to make the trip worth it somehow. So, an absolute fortune in salmon later because… Costco! I had to figure out what to do. I’ve […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Greek Yogurt

August 26, 2021

I want to make macaroni and cheese. It’s one of my favorite dishes. It’s also one of the easier roux to make. A lot of roux have a tendency to be delicate and finicky and break. But macaroni and cheese is kind of like the […]

Spinach Pie w/ Tomatoes

August 1, 2021

II was re-reading through my Spinach Pie recipe from Thanksgiving. I made two of them around that time. I was kind of planning on mixing things up a bit. Maybe to add tomatoes and maybe some Greek yogurt? Which I guess would make it more […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
