Confection recipes.

I am a sweets fan. Who doesn’t like the occasional Thanksgiving pie or Easter cookies? I make myself a cheesecake for my birthday every couple of years.

So, for when you want to indulge! Largely holiday themed because they give us an excuse to splurge.

But go ahead. It’s Tuesday. Make that key lime pie.

Whipped cream is one of those things that just tastes far superior when you make it yourself. You have to buy high quality heavy whipping cream because you can taste the difference. Although this also gives you plenty of room to play with additional ingredients. […]

New York Cheesecake w/ Rum Chocolate Ganache

May 15, 2022

It’s my birthday and I’m feeling nostalgic. Last year I made myself an actual cake. I didn’t post it because I absolutely forgot to write down what exactly I did in a truly astonishing series of events because I have this entire food blog so […]

Scottish Lemon Shortbread Cookies

January 9, 2022

I am always a fan of shortbread. They have just as much sugar as every other cookie, but for some reason always feel a little bit classier. Maybe it’s because they have “Scottish” in the title and, being a large part Scottish myself, I’m just […]

Embossed Shortbread Cookies

January 9, 2022

I always make cookies for Christmas. I’m not really much of a sweets person. If I’m going to do something decadent culinary-wise, I’m really more of a cheese person. Hence the Quiche w/ Spinach, Ricotta, Pecans & White Wine and Macaroni & Cheese w/ Gruyère […]

New York Cheesecake w/ Ambercup Squash

December 9, 2021

Squash is better than pumpkin. I’m going to say it. Maybe not all squash. But ambercup squash? There is absolutely no question! And this might be a controversial opinion. The best canned pie pumpkins are oftentimes touted as being actual pumpkin and not diluted with […]

Sushi w/ Ahi Tuna, Cucumbers, Carrots, & Avocados

November 25, 2021

I have never made sushi before. I have helped in the endeavor. I had friends in college who liked to make vegan sushi rolls. So, I have been an accomplice in the making. But have never played the predominant role! Nevertheless, I have ahi tuna […]

Vegan Chocolate Mousse w/ Calabaza Squash

January 21, 2021

I didn’t necessarily set out to make vegan chocolate mousse with calabaza squash. Mousse is always one of those recipes that is in the back of my mind, though! About 10 years ago I got home from work late at night, made myself a cocktail, […]

Apple Cobbler w/ Whiskey & Eggnog

December 31, 2020

I’ve been thinking about making something with apples for Christmas. I have a fruit bowl on my kitchen counter that I usually keep a handful of apples or pears in. And I made the rather foreseeable mistake of buying apples in bulk this week! So, […]

Mexican Wedding Cookies

December 20, 2020

Mexican Wedding Cookies (also known as Russian Tea Cakes) are a Christmas staple. I’m not quite sure exactly how I started making them. I just know that no Christmas is the same without them. And I probably really do make them every year! They’re a […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
