The Fundamentals of Making Tzatziki

March 1, 2021

I don’t always make tzatziki with English cucumbers, but it has become my go-to lately. You can easily substitute conventional American slicing cucumbers, but all of my usual grocery stores have switched to English ones! I often end up with odd ingredients when I go […]

Nachos w/ Ethiopian Lentils & Sautéed Spinach

February 25, 2021

I’m never entirely sure if I’m going to post nachos. Nachos are my cheat meal. They’re what I make tired at the end of the day after work. Probably in the dark in the middle of the night! They’re not necessarily something that I’m proud […]

Burrito w/ Wine Poached Salmon & Saffron Rice

February 7, 2021

A salmon burrito is not entirely out of my wheelhouse. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest with salmon everywhere. And I am perpetually nostalgic about wild caught seafood. A wine poached salmon with saffron rice burrito isn’t exactly what I imagined being on the […]

Salad w/ Wine Poached Salmon & Saffron Rice

February 4, 2021

This wine poached salmon and saffron rice recipe all started with a saffron purchase! I was perusing through Costco in the spice section. Vaguely looking for coconut oil or one of those baking ingredients that’s best bought in bulk. When I came across saffron. Now, […]

Poached Salmon w/ Tomatoes & White Wine

February 4, 2021

I made this salmon recipe particularly with White Wine Poached Salmon & Saffron Rice in mind. I hesitate to call poaching salmon and making the rice a separate part of this recipe. After all, I made them at the same time and haven’t eaten either […]

Hummus w/ Calabaza Squash

January 21, 2021

No sooner had I begun to think about roasting Calabaza for curry, I began contemplating what else I would do with all of the squash! Long story short, I bought an absolutely enormous calabaza squash (9.55 pounds to be exact). And now have the quite […]

Apple Cobbler w/ Whiskey & Eggnog

December 31, 2020

I’ve been thinking about making something with apples for Christmas. I have a fruit bowl on my kitchen counter that I usually keep a handful of apples or pears in. And I made the rather foreseeable mistake of buying apples in bulk this week! So, […]

Salmon Chowder w/ Corn & Potatoes

December 13, 2020

I have been almost making chowder for weeks! I usually do a seafood holiday. But this year I made fondue and spinach pie for Thanksgiving and am thinking a fondue-inspired lobster macaroni and cheese for Christmas. But, being halfway in between these two holidays, I […]

Cheesecake w/ Irish Cream Liqueur

November 29, 2020

I am particularly fond of making cheesecake! My dad was obsessed with it. When I was growing up, he would spend countless hours painstakingly watching the cheesecake, making sure that none of the edges cracked or brown spots formed. It took all night, but the […]

Fondue w/ Roasted Pumpkin

November 29, 2020

I’ve been craving fondue for weeks. I haven’t made it in ages, but my fondue pot has been staring at me lately! In order to stop staring longingly back at it I finally decided to make fondue for Thanksgiving. I was thinking about making some […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
