Photos of pets photobombing recipes and everyday life!
My pets are a big part of my daily existence. I don't have children and I work full time. So, I spend my leisurely hours with the furried loves of my life: my pets.
Do You Really Cook with Your Pets? And is That Sanitary!?
Some people don't think that cooking and fur babies go hand in hand. After all, don't they get their dirty little paws and hair everywhere?? To this I like to say, that you have likely never met a cat. They spend most of their day napping, begging you for extra food, and grooming themselves.
Cats regulate their body temperature by grooming.
Unlike primates, they don't sweat adequately. In humans, the natural evaporation of sweat helps cool you down in the summer.
Since cats can't do this, to combat the issue they lick themselves. That way their saliva evaporates and mimics the cooling effect. In the winter, they will similarly lick their fur to pat it down and assist in trapping the heat in to keep them warm.
This means that most cats will spend all year meticulously grooming themselves! Keeping in pristinely clean condition in the process. Cats also have 14x better smell receptors than humans and like to keep their toes fresh.
The Everyday Realities of Real Life
I also find that pets add a little playfulness to any day. Whether it's sneaking a peak at something that smells delicious, sitting on my shoulder, or begging for a little something that's edible to them.
Pets find their way into our lives and I want to embrace the full picture of what goes into the cooking process. From keeping dogs out of leftovers to cats off of countertops! It's all a part of the daily routine. Plus, what isn't more adorable than a furry friend photobombing your food?
The Crew
You will predominantly see Esméralda, the little black kitten, peaking her head into most recipes and articles.
Mostly because her inclusion is not optional! She is the youngest and most involved of the fur babies and tends to insert herself in whatever I am doing. Whether it's sticking her paw into the cooking, wanting a selfie when I take photos of my food, or insisting on sitting on the keyboard when I try to type of the recipe.
She is also the logo.
My other pets include Bridget, a 12 year old Chinese Crested Powder Puff and Secilly, a 10 year old Calico. For more information, they all have bios in the About Me section.
