What’s the Difference Between Apple Cobblers, Crisps, & Crumbles?

January 1, 2021

I’ve been thinking about making something with apples for Christmas. I have a fruit bowl on my kitchen counter that I usually keep a handful of apples or pears in. And I made the rather foreseeable mistake of buying apples in bulk this week! So, […]

Macaroni and Cheese w/ Lobster & Patagonian Shrimp

December 27, 2020

I absolutely adore macaroni and cheese! People tend to think of it as a kid’s food and something that comes out of a box and is covered in some powdered excuse for a dairy product. But macaroni and cheese is one of my all time […]

Dinner Rolls w/ Eggnog

December 24, 2020

I didn’t start out making eggnog dinner rolls. Rather, I had this rather odd dilemma on Christmas where everything that I was planning on making required milk! I did have milk for exactly this purpose. But not quite that much milk! This is because I […]

Mexican Wedding Cookies

December 20, 2020

Mexican Wedding Cookies (also known as Russian Tea Cakes) are a Christmas staple. I’m not quite sure exactly how I started making them. I just know that no Christmas is the same without them. And I probably really do make them every year! They’re a […]

Peanut Butter Blossoms w/ Peppermint Kisses

December 17, 2020

One of the most popular holiday cookies is peanut butter blossoms. My favorite thing in the world is to add peppermint Hershey’s kisses! Don’t ask me why mint and peanut butter go together. But you can only get them during the holiday season and I […]

The Fundamentals of Baking Cookies

December 15, 2020

I honestly don’t make a lot of sweets. I’m not fond of overly sugary things. I’ve had the same bag of snacking chocolate chips in the freezer for 6 months. I almost never make desserts. And baking cookies is almost the only thing that I […]

Salmon Chowder w/ Corn & Potatoes

December 13, 2020

I have been almost making chowder for weeks! I usually do a seafood holiday. But this year I made fondue and spinach pie for Thanksgiving and am thinking a fondue-inspired lobster macaroni and cheese for Christmas. But, being halfway in between these two holidays, I […]

Baked Salmon w/ Olive Oil

December 13, 2020

Ordinarily I make salmon for the main course or to top off salads. For this I’ll cook the it with lemon, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Sometimes I’ll spice things up by adding shallots, garlic, or jalapeños. Today I’m making soup, though, and am not […]

Thanksgiving Leftover Burrito w/ Lentils, Cranberries, & Runny Egg

December 10, 2020

This Thanksgiving leftover breakfast burrito is packed with all of the delicious things that I have leftover from the holiday season. Even though we’re in the middle of a pandemic, that’s no excuse not to eat well! If anything, it’s a great excuse to eat […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
