Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Quinoa w/ Summer Squash & Super Chili Peppers

October 5, 2023

The last days of summer are upon us. Which does mean the end of summer produce. Although, I’m more fond of peppers, which are a fall crop. So, as much as I might want to lament shorter days and the threat of frost? It’s time […]

Slow Cooker Black Beans w/ Super Chili Peppers

October 5, 2023

Fall is in full swing. And you know what that means? It’s pepper season. I might be considered a pepper aficionado at this point. I eat an enormous amount of peppers. But I also like to grow my own peppers. And don’t get me wrong, […]

The Fundamentals of Easy Alfredo Sauce w/out Butter

October 1, 2023

I’ve been making this kind of “cheat” or “easy” Alfredo sauce. I’ve never posted it because it’s more of a lazy day recipe when I don’t want to make a full pasta dish. And it dawned on me that other people might be in the […]

Vermicelli Salad w/ Jicama, Carrots, & Zucchini

October 1, 2023

Every now and then I like to grab something at the grocery store that I don’t often cook with. It makes me feel like I’m in one of those mystery box cooking challenging on culinary game shows. Plus, it gives me a chance to explore […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Salmon & Fresno Chilis

September 28, 2023

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m in a cooking rut. This is the third macaroni and cheese that I’ve made in the last couple of weeks (I ordinarily make one about once a month, but still). This might say something about how integral […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Spinach & Pecorino Romano

September 24, 2023

I’ve been in a macaroni and cheese mood. It’s one of my favorite comfort foods. It’s the thing that I turn to when I stare blankly into the fridge going, “I have noooooooothing to eeeeeeeeeat.” Maybe for simply the reason that, no matter how bare […]

Potato Salad w/ Flaming Jades & Patagonian Shrimp

September 21, 2023

I’ve been in a cooking rut for a little while. Although the peppers in my garden are just beginning to ripen. So, it’s almost the season for making anything and everything with spicy food. Today, I have a couple of flaming jade peppers. Flaming jades […]

Pasta Salad w/ Blue Cheese, Lemon, & Avocado

September 17, 2023

I have to admit that I haven’t felt inspired to cook in a little while. The problem with not feeling culinarily stimulated, though, is that you still actually have to eat. And for me, that oftentimes means that I’m too busy and work too long […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Grana Padano

September 14, 2023

I will be the first to admit that I can be a cheese snob. When I’m sick, I even have people who will offer to bring me cheese instead of soup. But, for all intents and purposes? Grana Padano, Parmigiano Reggiano, and any other kind […]

Fried Sweet Potatoes w/ Peppers & Avocado

September 10, 2023

There are days when breakfast is not optional. Ordinarily, I would turn to leftovers. But alas, I have absolutely nothing pre-prepared today. So, I must fend for myself in a sea of mismatched ingredients in my pantry. Or moreover, bowls of fruits and vegetables because, […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
