Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Quinoa is one of my go-to staples. Particularly with sweet potatoes. Any kind of potato will work. But i particularly like pairing the nutty flavor of quinoa with the robust nature of sweet potatoes. It’s not quite fall yet. But this sweet potato and garden […]

No-Fry Refried Beans w/ Garden Peppers

July 30, 2020

There is absolutely no comparison between homemade refried beans and the stuff that you get in the cans! This would be unfortunate. However, it’s really not that difficult to make beans. It just takes a little bit more planning than popping open a can! The […]

Scrambled Eggs w/ Bengali Curry

July 26, 2020

Curry and eggs have a longstanding tradition of going hand-in-hand. It may sound counter-intuitive to scramble eggs alongside a vegan curry. Especially since a lot of egg substitutes are made from tofu! However, a lot of curries call for an egg in them as the […]

Salsa w/ Roasted Tomatillos & Banana Peppers

July 16, 2020

Tomatillos are a green variety of tomato that are traditionally cultivated in Mexico. They have an outer husk and tend to be firmer with more of a citrus flavor than other tomatoes. Because of this, they do really well with roasting! Whenever I buy them, […]

The Fundamentals of Making Guacamole

July 15, 2020

Potato scrambled eggs are the perfect thing for breakfast. They’re simple to make, incredibly filling, and is delicious. Potatoes get a bad reputation because most of the time we’re deep frying or drowning them in butter and cheese! But potatoes are actually quite nutritious. We’ve […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
