Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

A lot of the time I make brown rice specifically for burritos. They’re one of my staple easy to make on the run foods. But this morning I had some time off and wanted to make something a little bit more special. A lot of […]

I make a lot of burritos out of unexpected ingredients. I’m constantly tossing together whatever I have on hand into a tortilla shell, lightly toasting, and adding a dollop of sour cream and hot sauce! From curry and quiche to lentils and quinoa, you name […]

October 15, 2020

Sweet potato quinoa is one of my favorite things in the world! I constantly have some on hand. I’ve probably made half a dozen of them this summer alone. And today is no exception! The other day I threw together a habanero and yellow tomato […]

Burrito w/ Roasted Pumpkin & Cranberry Curry

October 11, 2020

It’s probably true. I would probably put anything into a burrito! I even make thicker curries sometimes because I will inevitably always turn them into a burrito at some point… But I firmly stand by this! The sweet and spiciness of curry pairs well with […]

Quinoa w/ Sweet Potatoes & Yellow Tomatoes

October 4, 2020

Quinoa with sweet potatoes is one of my staples. The quinoa is light and fluffy, while having a nutty earthiness about it. The sweet potatoes are a little bit sweet and have a heartiness that pairs well quinoa. Add a little spiciness from the habaneros? […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
