Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Burrito w/ Quinoa, Tamari, & Runny Egg

January 10, 2021

I am a big fan of quickly frying up a runny egg for burritos. I don’t always eat them in the morning, but there’s something about a breakfast burrito all day that just hits the spot! This week I made a Japanese-inspired quinoa with tamari […]

Burrito w/ Quinoa, Tamari, & Tofu

January 10, 2021

This is one of those burrito creations that’s more of an amalgam of what I have on hand than an actual plan a quinoa burrito. I made Tamari & Rice Vinegar Quinoa earlier this week. I haven’t had this kind of dish in a while. […]

Quinoa w/ Ginger, Tofu, & Sprouts

January 10, 2021

I have been craving a more Japanese-style quinoa and tofu dish for ages. I used to make ginger quinoa with tamari and white rice vinegar all of time. It’s quick and easy to make and kind of fits in with this bowl fad that I’ve […]

Christmas Leftover Burrito w/ Pumpkin Rice & Mashed Potatoes

January 7, 2021

I made leftover burrito after leftover burrito after leftover burrito after Thanksgiving! No matter how good the meal was, the meals after the meal were equally as delicious. And now I have a new favorite lunch menu! One that I have tediously had to wait […]

Burrito w/ Banana Peppers & Pumpkin Rice

January 7, 2021

I have officially run out of Thanksgiving leftovers. This has been my new obsession this year! With Mashed Potatoes and Cranberry Sauce abound, I have been making burrito after burrito with all of the flavors of the holidays. Until Christmas, though, I am on my […]

Brown Rice w/ Pumpkin & Tomatoes

January 7, 2021

I’m a big fan of heat. Almost all of my rice is doused in habaneros from my garden! I’ll always tell you that the peppers are optional. But they’re as necessary as the rice is for me… I made this recipe for other people, though, […]

Scrambled Eggs w/ Sweet Potatoes

January 3, 2021

Sweet potato scramble is a staple recipe that everyone should have in their arsenal. It’s quick, easy, and a classic. I mixed it up this morning with a little sweet potato because it adds a richness to the dish, but the same principle applies to […]

Apple Cobbler w/ Whiskey & Eggnog

December 31, 2020

I’ve been thinking about making something with apples for Christmas. I have a fruit bowl on my kitchen counter that I usually keep a handful of apples or pears in. And I made the rather foreseeable mistake of buying apples in bulk this week! So, […]

Macaroni and Cheese w/ Lobster & Patagonian Shrimp

December 27, 2020

I absolutely adore macaroni and cheese! People tend to think of it as a kid’s food and something that comes out of a box and is covered in some powdered excuse for a dairy product. But macaroni and cheese is one of my all time […]

Dinner Rolls w/ Eggnog

December 24, 2020

I didn’t start out making eggnog dinner rolls. Rather, I had this rather odd dilemma on Christmas where everything that I was planning on making required milk! I did have milk for exactly this purpose. But not quite that much milk! This is because I […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
