Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Burrito w/ Tofu, Spinach & Ginger Quinoa

April 11, 2021

A quinoa burrito is not necessarily out of my wheelhouse. I use quinoa, lentils, and rice pretty much interchangeably in everything! But I’ve been making these Japanese-style quinoa dishes with garlic, ginger, tofu, tamari, and rice vinegar and that doesn’t necessarily sound like it might […]

Quinoa w/ Tofu, Spinach, & Ginger

April 11, 2021

I have been on a spinach kick lately. I blame the bulk bags of spinach at Costco… But spinach keeps for a decent amount of time and is just an unbeatable price. Only, now I keep finding myself with so much spinach that it is […]

Burrito w/ Guinness & Spinach Shepherd’s Pie

April 8, 2021

Like so many of my hodgepodge burrito creations of putting absolutely every single leftover imaginable into a tortilla shell and dousing it with hot sauce? You just have to trust me that it’s never not worth it! This Shepherd’s Pie Burrito is the perfect meal […]

Hummus w/ White Beans & Roasted Garlic

April 4, 2021

This white bean hummus is a take on a classic hummus recipe, with the little spin of making it out of white beans, instead of chickpeas. White beans are much softer and infinitely easier to cook than chickpeas. It’s a much faster and easier to […]

Bruschetta w/ Balsamic Quinoa & Fresh Mozzarella

April 1, 2021

I didn’t go into this intending to make bruschetta. I’ve been on a bread kick lately. Maybe potentially because I’m craving balsamic vinegar and it was inevitable that the two would intersect! But I decided today to make No-knead Dutch Oven Bread and Quinoa w/ […]

Burrito w/ Balsamic Brussel Sprout Quinoa

March 28, 2021

My latest batch of quinoa was quite sweet. Between the brussel sprouts, carrots, and balsamic? It was definitely bright and refreshing. But also pretty earthy! Especially when paired with quinoa, which already has a bit of earthiness to it. I always kind of chuckle a […]

Quinoa w/ Balsamic, Carrots, & Brussel Sprouts

March 28, 2021

It is brussel sprout season. Every year I see the brussel sprouts, still attached to the stalk, like some magical mystical ingredient that I have absolutely no idea what to do with! And every now and then I pick something up. I stare at it […]

Salsa w/ Sautéed Corn & Carrots

March 25, 2021

I am craving salsa. It’s entirely out of season, though! I don’t have any peppers. I have started some from seed because we’re approaching spring and it’s good to get a head start on those indoors. But I don’t have any on hand at the […]

Burrito w/ Brown Rice & Shrimp Paella

March 21, 2021

I made paella this week and, as with everything else that I make in bulk, it eventually ended up in a burrito! Although this is not too far fetched at all. After all, this paella burrito isn’t too far off of a shrimp taco. Rice […]

Paella w/ Brown Rice, Saffron, & Shrimp

March 21, 2021

I came across a paella pan while perusing my favorite home goods store. With almost nothing else to do during coronavirus, I keep searching for that next fun meal to experiment with! It’s also right next to my grocery store and takes only a moment […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
