Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

The Fundamentals of Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

May 1, 2021

I am a big fan of air fryer sweet potato fries. It only takes about 15 minutes. And it’s a lot easier and more contained than getting out a sheet pan and trying to make them in the oven or the hassle of a deep […]

Power Bars w/ Dates & Lemon

April 29, 2021

Date power bars became really popular a few years back and I am on board! I’ve kind of always had issue with candy bars being marketed as a pick-me-up in between workouts. Candy bars are junk food. You can eat them as much as you […]

Power Bars w/ Dates & Chocolate

April 29, 2021

I used to make date power bars all of the time! Just 2 simple ingredients, dates and nuts, plus any kind of flavoring that you want. And voila! A quick and easy power bar without all of the added sugars and fillers of store-bought versions. […]

Burrito w/ Spinach & Blue Cheese Quiche

April 25, 2021

I wasn’t sure If I would turn this into a burrito. After all, a quiche burrito isn’t exactly on every breakfast menu! Especially because quiche is a self-contained dish. There’s no crust because I quite frankly just don’t like to make pie crust that much! […]

Quiche w/ Greek Yogurt, Spinach, & Blue Cheese

April 22, 2021

I have been craving quiche for a little while. After Easter, I am still in the mood for eggs! And I’ve been buying waaaay too much bulk spinach. Which is not necessarily a negative, but it does mean that using spinach is not optional! It […]

Nachos w/ Quinoa, Yellow Squash & Green Onions

April 18, 2021

I made this giant plate of quinoa nachos because I wanted to buy green onions. This year I’ve been starting enough seeds to feed an army this summer. But one of the things that I haven’t gotten is green onions. This is because I inevitably […]

Quinoa w/ Spinach, Ginger & Yams

April 18, 2021

Ordinarily I would make quinoa with sweet potatoes. Occasionally I’ll toss in a purple potato or baby potato or russet potato if I’m getting real desperate! But, today the grocery store was almost entirely out of sweet potatoes. So, I improvised with their slightly more […]

Mayonnaise-Free Deviled Eggs w/ Salmon & Dill

April 15, 2021

I am not the biggest fan of mayonnaise. I’m not necessarily trying to do this to be healthy. I’ll eat mayonnaise-laden fish and chips and tartar sauce with reckless abandon. But it absolutely will not sit well with me later! For whatever reason, I just […]

Terrine w/ Salmon, Spinach & Chèvre

April 15, 2021

I have been scouring Pinterest for fun Easter foods. I do this every year and year after year keep finding absolutely to die for terrines! Now, I’ve never even eaten a terrine, let alone attempted to make one. So, so many, many things could have […]

Burrito w/ Spinach, Quinoa & Runny Egg

Let’s be real, there aren’t too many better things in the morning than a breakfast burrito! I make them all of the time. They’re one of my absolute favorites. And, don’t get me wrong, I like a good crepe or giant pile of pancakes every […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
