Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Salsa w/ Avocado, Cucumber, & Tomatoes

June 24, 2021

I have been making quite a bit of vermicelli salads lately. Vermicelli is a thin pasta created from brown rice, oftentimes used in stir fry. And, as much as I’m obsessed with vermicelli, which I’ve been making as kind of a cross between a salad […]

Avocado Dip w/ Greek Yogurt, Tahini, & Lime

June 24, 2021

This avocado dip is my new favorite dish. I haven’t the slightest idea what to call it, though… With avocados, tahini, lime juice, and Greek yogurt? It’s a combination of hummus and guacamole. I’ve been using it in the place of sour cream on burritos, […]

Burrito w/ Sweet Potato, Tamari, & Tahini Quinoa

June 20, 2021

I have maybe made this recipe more than anything else in the last year. It’s hands down one of my favorite things to eat. The sweet potato replaces rice in a more typical burrito flawlessly. And has a more complex flavor profile with bitter and […]

Quinoa w/ Sweet Potatoes, Tahini, & Tamari

June 20, 2021

Sweet potato and tahini quinoa is one of my favorite go-to recipes. It’s a great thing just to have in the refrigerator to toss in a burrito, nachos, or scramble alongside an egg. I’ve even in a pinch tossed it into potato salads and vegan […]

Burrito w/ Yellow Squash, Lettuce, & Avocado

June 17, 2021

I have some fresh produce ripening in the garden. It’s still early in the season, so nothing huge is ready quite yet. But I do have radish and lettuce ready to be picked. Yesterday, I used a bunch of the lettuce for Nachos w/ Yellow […]

Nachos w/ Yellow Squash, Lettuce, & Avocado

June 17, 2021

I planted a bunch of fruits and vegetables in my garden. This season, the first wave of produce is just beginning to ripen. Which I’m quite excited about it. I’ve been turning radish into Vermicelli Salad w/ Bell Peppers, Tofu, & Peanuts and Falafel w/ […]

The Fundamentals of Blackened Tilapia

June 15, 2021

I am a big fan of blackened tilapia. I would wager to say that it’s one of the easier fish to cook. Tilapia are so small compared to something like salmon or even whole cod, that there isn’t a lot of guess work in cooking […]

Vermicelli Salad w/ Bell Peppers, Tofu, & Peanuts

June 13, 2021

I have radish ripening in the garden. Last week I used my English breakfast radish for Falafel w/ Hummus, Tzatziki, Radish, & Sprouts. But today I have white icicle radish that absolutely is ready to come out of the ground! I’ve also been obsessed with […]

Vermicelli Salad w/ Radish & Sprouts

June 13, 2021

I started making Vermicelli Salad the other day. Vermicelli is my new find at my favorite out of the way grocery store! It’s a thin rice noodle ordinarily used for stir fry, soup, and spring rolls. I’ve been buying the brown rice version and making […]

Quiche w/ Duck Eggs, Arugula, & Avocados

June 10, 2021

I have gone down a rabbit hole at Woodman’s! One of my favorite local grocery stores. They’re always out of the way in some superstore along the side of the highway because this is rural Wisconsin. But it’s one of the only places where you […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
