Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Brown Rice w/ Ambercup Squash & Red Chilis

September 30, 2021

I almost never make rice in my rice cooker. Ironically enough, quinoa and lentils cook up much better and are far easier meals to toss together. Rice often ends up too thick or thin, too moist or dry, and just relatively unpleasant. Part of the […]

Burrito w/ Squash Macaroni & Cheese

September 26, 2021

I adore macaroni and cheese. It’s simple enough to make from scratch and I absolutely make it far more than I probably should! But sometimes you do just want to consume your body weight in cheese and pasta. My biggest problem with this is that […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Ambercup Squash

September 26, 2021

I roasted an Ambercup Squash the other day. It’s an incredibly rich and flavorful winter squash that vaguely resembles a more intense version of butternut squash. And, while I didn’t originally intend to make squash macaroni and cheese out of this? It is always a delicious way […]

Potluck Avocado Dip w/ Lemons, Limes, & Walnuts

September 23, 2021

I am a huge fan of making avocado dip. Over the last couple of weeks or maybe even months at this point, I’ve made it almost a dozen times! So, I’ve been making a big potluck batch. What I ordinarily do is just double my […]

Roasted Ambercup Squash Seeds

September 19, 2021

I have roasted an Ambercup Squash today! It isn’t the largest squash, but vaguely resembles an Acorn or Calabaza Squash. Although, despite its mediocre size compared to something like a calabaza, which are absolutely enormous with squally enormous seeds to roast! Ambercup have a nominal […]

Roasted Ambercup Squash

September 19, 2021

Fall is in the air. It’s back-to-school time for little children. And my YouTube feed has started recommending Hocus Pocus-themed videos. Ahhh but it is only mid-August, 90 degrees out, and my local Costco has begun with their Christmas displays. Which makes me culinarily confused. […]

Nachos w/ Daikon Quinoa & Queso Fresco

September 16, 2021

I’m in a nacho mood lately. I’ve been making a lot of Macaroni & Cheese lately and really just am intensely craving cheese! It’s really a comfort food. If anything is tiring or stressful or unexpected in my life, all I want is cheese. And […]

Burrito w/ Daikon Quinoa & Ambercup Squash

September 16, 2021

I like this daikon burrito as is. With just daikon quinoa wrapped in a tortilla shell? It’s a perfectly acceptable burrito! I have made several variations of tamari, tahini, and rice vinegar quinoa that I have turned into burrito form. I will link to several […]

Quinoa w/ Daikon, Walnuts, & Lime

September 16, 2021

I was perusing the grocery store this morning. Not my local grocery store, but my favorite out of the way grocery store with the best unusual produce. Now, daikon isn’t the most out there of ingredients! But I do live in rural Wisconsin and my […]

The Fundamentals of Air Fryer Cheese Curds

September 15, 2021

I’m incredibly fond of cheese curds. They’re quintessentially Wisconsin and Costco sells them in multiple pounds around here! But they’re not strictly reserved to the Dairy State. For one thing, California has had superior cheese producing numbers for decades. And I grew up in Oregon […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
