Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Burrito w/ Potatoes, Tamari, & Peanut Butter

January 27, 2022

I will turn absolutely everything into a burrito! I mostly made this Quinoa w/ Potatoes, Tamari, & Peanut Butter precisely so that I had something to toss into burritos. And the occasional Nachos w/ Potato Quinoa, Cheddar, & Peanut Butter. The peanut butter is more […]

Nachos w/ Potato Quinoa, Cheddar, & Peanut Butter

January 27, 2022

I’ve been craving peanut butter lately. And, for whatever strange reason, I keep thinking that it would be absolutely delicious on nachos! I tend to think of nachos as being good with just about any food. After all, what can’t you put on a tortilla […]

Quinoa w/ Potatoes, Tamari, & Peanut Butter

January 27, 2022

I am moving. As one does when they’re moving, I’ve packed up the vast majority of my life kitchen. I’ve left myself a few staples. I didn’t have a particular recipe in mind when I left these in the pantry, though. So, when I came […]

Cheese Dip w/ Cheddar & Cream Cheese

January 23, 2022

You know how they say that you should never grocery shop while hungry? Obviously you’ll end up with a lot more “I’m instantly craving THIS” foods than most of us would actually want to consume. But I’ve come across this same problem while cooking today. […]

Lasagna w/ Manchego & Fresh Mozzarella

January 20, 2022

I couldn’t decide whether to make lasagna or fondue for Christmas this year. So, I bought everything for both and then made neither… I did make Quiche w/ Spinach, Ricotta, Pecans & White Wine and Macaroni & Cheese w/ Gruyère & White Wine that were […]

Fondue w/ Manchego Cheese

January 20, 2022

I have been making a ton of fondue lately. It’s one of my favorite things to make and is actually quite a bit simpler to do so than most people first imagine. The cheese in fondue is coated in cornstarch, which helps prevent the sauce […]

Christmas Nachos w/ Potato & Pecan Quiche

January 16, 2022

One of my favorite things to do after the holidays is to figure out how to turn everything leftover into a new and exciting meal! As much as it’s fun for a couple of days to be eating absolutely enormous amounts of Quiche w/ Spinach, […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Gruyère & White Wine

January 13, 2022

I’ve been in a Fondue mood lately. However, when it came down to actually making something for Christmas 2021? I wasn’t quite in the mood to make an entire batch of bread. Predominantly because, by the time that I had actually gotten back home on […]

It is Christmas time! Now, it’s not entirely the most festive of years. But I will never turn down an opportunity to make an inordinate amount of food. After all, Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I like the snow. I like the […]

Scottish Lemon Shortbread Cookies

January 9, 2022

I am always a fan of shortbread. They have just as much sugar as every other cookie, but for some reason always feel a little bit classier. Maybe it’s because they have “Scottish” in the title and, being a large part Scottish myself, I’m just […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
