Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Tartar Sauce w/ Greek Yogurt & Spinach

March 17, 2022

With it being St. Patrick’s Day, I am obviously turning everything that I eat today green. And pairing it with a side of Guinness (although that is not an actual ingredient in this dish and therefore entirely optional!). I am not the biggest holiday person […]

The Fundamentals of Making Omelettes

March 15, 2022

I have been on an omelette kick lately. I tend to do this. I’ll eat food in waves. One part of the year it’s all about soups and curries. Then, I’m turning all of my leftovers into nachos and burritos. Somewhere in between I’ll throw […]

Omelette w/ Salmon & Sweet Potatoes

March 10, 2022

I made almost this exact same Omelette last week. And, as good as that omelette was, I was thinking that it could perhaps be improved upon! You know when something good feels a little bit too simple? I’m all for those nice, delicate little meals […]

Omelette w/ Salmon & Greek Yogurt Tartar Sauce

March 10, 2022

I made Tartar Sauce w/ Greek Yogurt & Red Jalapeños the other day. One of my favorite mayonnaise-free swaps is to use Greek yogurt, instead of mayonnaise. It’s healthier than straight up mayonnaise. Although I usually make the swap because I almost always have Greek […]

I have been absolutely craving salmon burgers lately. Wisconsin does a fish fry absolutely every Friday. Although you can set your calendar to the apex of lent where, whether you’re religious or not, the entire state rallies together and agrees on one incredibly vital thing. […]

Tartar Sauce w/ Greek Yogurt & Red Jalapeños

March 6, 2022

I am not the biggest fan of mayonnaise! Although it’s fish season in Wisconsin. The air is filled with the scent of fried fish and tartar sauce. And anyone and everyone is craving seafood. That might be hyperbole. But it doesn’t change the fact that […]

Fried Rice w/ Broccoli, Bell Peppers, & Eggs

March 3, 2022

I went into this week thinking that I was probably going to make fried rice. I don’t make fried rice all that often. As someone who doesn’t eat much meat, it’s one of the dishes that people oftentimes point to going, “See, you can eat […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
