Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Quiche w/ Pear, Blackberry, & Blue Cheese

April 17, 2022

Sweet and savory are oftentimes seen as polar opposites. Breakfast, dinner, and dessert. One or the other. Although sweet and savory go incredibly well combined together. I constantly find myself wanting to pair sweet potatoes and apples with bitter quinoa and spicy curry. My absolute […]

I started off the week making Wild Rice w/ Sweet Potatoes, Yellow Onions, & Limes. It’s a mix of wild rice with sweet potatoes, garlic, yellow onions, lime juice, olive oil, cumin, coriander, and chili powder. Burritos were originally invented in a street market in Mexico […]

The other day I made Nachos w/ Black Beans, Wild Rice, & Fontina. I’m essentially making the exact same thing today. However, I’ve run out of Stovetop Black Beans w/ Shallots & Garlic, so I have to unfortunately go without! I was able to get […]

Avocado Dip w/ Greek Yogurt, Lemon, & Dill

April 14, 2022

I bought dill today. I’ve started planting dill seed over the last couple of weeks, which will make cooking in the next couple of months quite fun! But, for whatever reason, I associate dill with Easter. It’s too soon to have dill growing in the […]

This is what happens when you go to the grocery store hungry. I really just went in to get cheddar. Although the price of cheese has skyrocketed lately and I doing like paying full price for cheese. So, perusing through discount cheese section, I ended […]

Nachos w/ Black Beans, Wild Rice & Fontina

April 7, 2022

There is almost nothing better in the world than melted cheese. I had perhaps thought that I was going to do something else with this fontina. After all, it’s a little bit fancy for nachos. However, cheese is at a premium at the moment due […]

Wild Rice w/ Sweet Potatoes, Yellow Onions & Lime

April 3, 2022

I’ve been thinking about making rice and beans lately. Ordinarily I make this kind of recipe during the summer with freshly picked peppers and tomatoes from the garden. However, it’s barely spring and there is absolutely still snow on the horizon because Wisconsin is in […]

Nachos w/ Sweet Potato Quinoa & Muenster

March 31, 2022

There is a cheese shortage. I hate to break it to you if you’re a cheese aficionado. If I could, I would live on nothing but cheese for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, production and supply lines have been disrupted and, while that may be […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
