Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

The Fundamentals of Homemade Whipped Cream

June 1, 2022

I have to admit that I’m a whipped cream snob. I know that that’s not the most couth thing to say. But there is absolutely nothing better than homemade whipped cream. It’s surprisingly easy to make. All you need is heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, […]

Salad w/ Blackened Tilapia, Avocado, & Vermicelli

May 29, 2022

I’m a big fan of vermicelli salads. I make them all of the time as a way to toss all of the produce that I have on hand into a single thing all at once. Curry is another non-boring option for this. Especially since I […]

Burrito w/ Blackened Tilapia, Avocado & Vermicelli

May 29, 2022

I have quite a bit of tilapia leftover after making a Blackened Tilapia Salad w/ Avocado & Vermicelli. That tends to happen. Tilapia is incredibly affordable compared to a lot of other fish and I tend to shop in bulk at Costco when I can. […]

Vermicelli Salad w/ Carrots & Bell Peppers

May 26, 2022

I’ve been making a lot of curries lately. The weather is turning to summer and I suppose that I wanted to get in all of my hot food fixes all at once! Although it’s finally pretty warm. Wisconsin routinely hovers around the 80s and 90s […]

Potluck Avocado Dip w/ Greek Yogurt & Serranos

May 26, 2022

One of my favorite things to make is avocado and Greek yogurt dip with serranos. It’s essentially a cross between hummus and guacamole. Although it goes with a wider variety of dishes, lasts longer without spoiling, and is super fun to mix and match with […]

Candied Limes

Whipped Cream w/ Tequila

May 22, 2022

Homemade whipped cream is a truly glorious thing to behold. There are so many strange and bizarre additives to most store-bought whipped creams. They’re full of artificial ingredients, stabilizers, and flavors. Personally, I try to avoid things like corn syrup and artificial flavorings. I’m much […]

Margarita Cheesecake w/ Tequila & Lime

May 22, 2022

Yes, I did indeed make three different types of cheesecake for my birthday this year. And no, I will absolutely not apologize for it. It was absolutely delicious! None of the cheesecakes were bad. They’re all variations of my favorite New York Cheesecake from The […]

Whipped Cream w/ Rum

May 19, 2022

Whipped cream is one of those things that just tastes far superior when you make it yourself. You have to buy high quality heavy whipping cream because you can taste the difference. Although this also gives you plenty of room to play with additional ingredients. […]

It’s my Birthday and I’m experimenting with what exactly my vintage classic of a new apartment can actually make. To be honest, I was incredibly skeptical what my oven can successfully make. It’s likely older than I am and doesn’t even come close to holding […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
