Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Nachos w/ Vermicelli, Squash, & Sprouts

August 7, 2022

I’m a big fan of leftovers. Anything that you can make ahead of time and toss together in a couple of minutes later on when I don’t have the energy to actually cook? I love having things on hand that just work. Vermicelli goes great […]

Burrito w/ Vermicelli, Squash, & Sprouts

August 4, 2022

Yesterday I made Vermicelli Salad w/ Summer Squash, Avocado, & Sprouts. Vermicelli salads are one of my favorite summer dishes. They’re essentially an Asian-style variation of an Italian Pasta salad. I also took that culinary fusion one step further today to make a Vermicelli Burrito. […]

Vermicelli Salad w/ Summer Squash, Avocado, & Sprouts

July 31, 2022

I don’t want to cook today. We all have those days where you have absolutely nothing to eat and have to do something, but just do not have the energy to make curry over the next four to eight hours. Which is entirely reasonable. I […]

Vermicelli Salad w/ Tofu, Zucchini, Peppers, & Sprouts

July 28, 2022

I’m sure that someone else has made a Vermicelli Salad before. Having a new idea in food is kind of a rarity. Everything that we make has culinary influence, even if it’s subconscious. I’m incredibly fond of these vermicelli salads. I don’t quite remember what […]

Potato Bake w/ Tomatoes, Zucchini, & Fresh Mozzarella

July 24, 2022

I have miniature multicolored potatoes, zucchini, and tomatoes on hand. Which sounds like a pasta salad. Although, as much as I enjoy a good pasta salad? I don’t particularly like the taste of cold noodles days later when I inevitably haven’t eaten all of it. […]

Potato Bake w/ Spinach, Greek Yogurt, & Gruyère

July 21, 2022

I wanted to make a quiche. I have potatoes and spinach. There’s even some leftover Grilled Salmon if I want to get fancy with it. Although I only have 3 eggs and 0 milk. So, I debated about making a half batch (ordinarily I use […]

Ravioli w/ Lemon, Ricotta, & Saffron Brigante Cheese

July 17, 2022

I am perpetually looking for semolina. I adore making homemade pasta. When I lived near Bob’s Red Mill and readily available 25 pound bags of semolina? I made pasta constantly. Now that I live in middle America, though? It’s incredibly difficult to track down. I […]

The Fundamentals of Semolina Pasta Dough

July 15, 2022

I am a big fan of making homemade semolina pasta. If I can find bulk semolina at an affordable price? I’m absolutely going to make fresh pasta for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s much simpler to make than I thought that it would be and […]

Yesterday, I was feeling in the grilling mood and made Barbeque Stuffed Peppers w/ Salmon & Avocado. I decided to keep the grilling theme going today by making Grilled Salmon Nachos w/ Bell Peppers & Brie. Which is as delicious as it sounds. But was […]

Barbeque Peppers w/ Salmon & Avocado

July 10, 2022

The final days of summer are almost upon us. Daylight is beginning to dwindle and grilling season is coming to a close. Not that it’s not possible to barbecue during a snowstorm. It wouldn’t necessarily be my first choice? But, given a power outage in […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
