Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Vermicelli Salad w/ Daikon, Tofu, & Avocado

December 22, 2022

The other day I made Vermicelli Salad w/ Daikon & Yellow Squash. I ordinarily like to add in avocado with this for a little bit of indulgence. Although I’ve used all of my avocados on Avocado Dip w/ Greek Yogurt & Walnuts. So, I decided […]

Nachos w/ Red Lentils, Cauliflower, Carrots, & Tahini

December 18, 2022

I tried my hand at the Dutch Oven Instant Pot for the first time the other day with Instant Pot Dutch Oven Lentils w/ Cauliflower & Tahini (this is NOT sponsored). While I’m not quite convinced that this is a worthwhile investment? I’m pretty fond […]

Instant Pot Dutch Oven Lentils w/ Cauliflower & Tahini

December 15, 2022

I like to test out new products. I’m in the restaurant industry. There’s very little difference between high-end consumer and low-end professional culinary products. And, quite frankly, you don’t have to ask me twice if I want a fancy schmancy new red Dutch oven (this […]

Burrito w/ Venison Goulash, Brick Cheese, & Red Wine

December 11, 2022

I turn absolutely anything and everything into burritos. It’s one of my favorite ways to utilize leftovers. It only takes a couple of minutes to toast a tortilla and toss whatever I have in the refrigerator into it. Today, I made a Venison Goulash Burrito […]

I don’t eat a lot of meat. I have an entire article on What Does “Mostly Vegetarian” Mean & Will I Post Meat Recipes? because I almost never post recipes with meat and always debate about being a part of the “pseudo-vegetarian” community. And I […]

Trifle w/ Raspberries & Red Zinfandel

December 1, 2022

Trifle is one of those holiday favorites that I grew up with every now and then on special occasions. I ordinarily use strawberries. Although strawberries are few and far between on the cusp of winter! So, I’ve opted for raspberries. Which are equally delicious, but […]

Lasagna w/ Mashed Potatoes & Spinach

November 27, 2022

The holiday season is upon us! I tend to do at least a classic holiday meal or two. This year I am completely slammed. Between life and work, the thought of making an entire Thanksgiving feast is a little daunting! I’ll never give up on […]

Lentils w/ Sweet Potato, Spinach, Ginger, & Garlic

November 24, 2022

It’s the holiday season. And, more than anything in the blustery weather, I make lentils. I know that this might mot be the most common of things! But I associate quinoa with bright, citrus, summery days. And I associate lentils with warm, rich, winter. This […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Pie Pumpkin & Gouda

November 20, 2022

Fall is in the air. Freshly cut grass. Drops of dew. And falling leaves are all around. As is the scent of freshly roasting pie pumpkin in my oven! There is only one time a year when you can get pie pumpkins. It’s one of […]

Quiche w/ Curry, Cashew, Spinach, Squash, & Ginger

November 17, 2022

I’ve been craving curry lately. And quiche. And maybe a spinach pie. Like a lot of culinary conundrums, my solution is simply to combine absolutely everything together. A curry quiche sounds like something that should exist, though. Curry has such a distinctive flavor that it […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
