Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Pasta w/ Venison Meatballs & Grand Cru

April 2, 2023

I live alone, so I oftentimes have leftovers. And I know that “leftovers” is kind of a dirty word. Not everyone likes to think that their food isn’t freshly made to order. I hate to break it to you, but most restaurant dishes are made […]

Venison Burgers w/ Limburger & Onions

March 30, 2023

I’ve been taking time off of my day job to catch up on all of the things that I’ve been neglecting. Which apparently amounts to a full-time job worth of stuff! One of the things that I’ve been catching up on is putting more effort […]

Caramelized Yellow Onions w/ Red Wine

March 26, 2023

Red wine caramelized onions are a classic for onion lovers and haters alike. Honestly, I don’t like onions. They’re bitter. They’re stringy. And they make me cry. Which is unfortunate because I work in the restaurant industry! People like to say that you get over […]

Vermicelli Salad w/ Daikon & Zucchini

March 23, 2023

Vermicelli salads are one of my favorite quick and easy recipes to toss together. There’s nothing worse than a plain old salad with wilting lettuce and syrupy salad dressing. I really just dislike the idea of lettuce as an entire meal. Any time I ask […]

Tamales w/ Tomatoes & Poblano Peppers

March 19, 2023

I’m taking a staycation and have been thinking about making something fun during it! There are plenty of things that I make regularly, but I’ve never made tamales and have always thought about trying my hand at it. It’s a time-consuming dish, especially when you’ve […]

Vermicelli Salad w/ Daikon & Yellow Squash

March 12, 2023

Vermicelli salads are quick and easy to toss together. They have all of the produce you enjoy in a salad, with vermicelli instead of lettuce. I use brown rice vermicelli, so it’s gluten free and not as indulgent as pasta. It’s almost like an Asian-style […]

Vermicelli Salad w/ Red Pepper & Zucchini

March 9, 2023

One of my favorite things to make is vermicelli salad. It’s quick and easy to toss together. Vermicelli is a very thin pasta that cooks by bringing water to a boil, removing from heat, and adding the noodles. No timing. No waiting. It’s likely one […]

Sweet Potato Fritters w/ Runny Egg

March 5, 2023

I’ve been testing my hand out on Fritters lately. They’re reminiscent of a hash brown, but I made these with sweet potatoes, garlic, shallots, and green onions. I have a couple leftover and I’ve been mulling over what to do with them. I have a […]

Fritters w/ Sweet Potatoes, Garlic, & Green Onions

March 2, 2023

I didn’t necessarily intend to make sweet potatoes fritters today. I had a multitude of shopping and cooking dilemmas that I needed to sort through before finally deciding on fritters. Although I’m quite glad that I did! Sometimes culinary dilemmas give you just enough constraints […]

Avocado Dip w/ Garlic, Tahini, & Lemon

March 2, 2023

Avocado dip is one of my all-time favorite dishes to make. It’s essentially a cross between hummus and guacamole. Although, today I made it with Sweet Potato Fritters, which are a Middle Eastern dish. So, I went for more of a hummus recipe with avocados, […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
