Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Miniature Quiche w/ Cheddar & Broccoli

May 21, 2023

It’s officially spring. The price of eggs has skyrocketed lately, but I cannot fathom a world without eggs. I’ve had chickens a couple of times and have gone whole swaths of my life where I pretty much lived on eggs. They’re a hearty food that’s […]

Egg Drop Soup w/ Garlic & Green Onions

May 7, 2023

I’m a big fan of eggs. There’s nothing better than starting off the day with a hefty plate of scrambled eggs. Although I get a little bit bored with the typical egg dishes! And I’ve been craving something a little bit more fun for breakfast. […]

Quiche w/ Spinach & Cherry Tomatoes

April 30, 2023

Quiche is a great thing to bring to holidays and potlucks. It’s good hot right out of the oven. But it’s also good chilled or at room temperature. So, if you’re tight on oven space or want to make something ahead of time, quiche works […]

Deviled Eggs w/ Greek Yogurt & Chives

April 27, 2023

I didn’t initially go into Easter knowing what I was going to make. I didn’t grow up doing anything too special for the peripheral holidays. Particularly in the Pacific Northwest where it rains so much, big spring barbecue cookouts aren’t as big of a thing. […]

Vermicelli Salad w/ Potatoes & Tomatoes

April 23, 2023

I adore vermicelli salads. They’re hands one of my favorite foods. I’m about to go out of town for a couple of weeks and I have some produce that I absolutely need to eat up before I go! So, instead of trying to figure out […]

Coelho Brazilian Grilling Cheese

April 20, 2023

It should be pretty obvious that I’m grilling this. Is there anything else to do with Coelho Brazilian grilling cheese? In the subsequent days after making this, I’ve even tried to use this cheese in a couple of other ways: grilled and chopped up over […]

Fried Eggs w/ Sweet Potato & Blue Cheese

April 16, 2023

Every now and then breakfast can be a tough meal to toss together. As much as cereal is an American staple, I’m not a big fan of that much sugar in the morning. I tend to crash after eating sweets, which is the exact opposite […]

Nachos w/ Macaroni & Cheese & Queso

April 13, 2023

Macaroni and cheese nachos might sound like an odd combination. They might even be an odd combination. But some of the most fun foods are things that you toss together and douse with cheese! It really isn’t that far fetched, though. Both nachos and macaroni […]

Fried Rice w/ Bell Pepper & Bulb Onion

April 9, 2023

I accidentally overcooked some rice and decided to just lean into it and make fried rice with bell pepper, banana pepper, bulb onion, and ginger. It’s actually not even really rice. It’s a brown rice noodle that’s sort of like orzo. Although I’m going to […]

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Cheddar Gruyère

April 6, 2023

Macaroni and cheese is one of my favorite things to make. If I’m ever having a lackadaisical day, macaroni is my go-to. It’s relatively simple to make and quick/easy once you get the hang of it. It’s also just a nostalgic childhood foods that warms […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
