Category: Breakfast

This category encompasses both breakfast and brunch.

I’m the kind of person who likes to wake up in the morning and get the ball rolling. I clean. I work out. I go grocery shopping. I get hungry!

I also like to have a lazy Sunday brunch. I work in the restaurant industry. So, I tend to work weekends and am out late at night on Friday and Saturday nights sweating over a hot industrial oven.

I tend to get all of my errands done for the week before my Sunday off. That makes Sundays just my days to do whatever I want. Whether that’s getting a new dresser or sleeping in and sipping mimosas over eggs Benedict.

Burrito w/ Banana, Pecan Lentils, & Runny Egg

December 19, 2021

I make things sometimes specifically to turn into burritos. More often than not, if I make lentils or quinoa? It’s for precisely this purpose. However, this week’s foray into bananas in Mexican was more of an ingredient inspiration! And purely a: Can I actually use […]

Burrito w/ Apple, Walnut Quinoa, & Runny Egg

November 21, 2021

Fall is in full swing and I’ve been craving fruit and nuts in absolutely everything. Maybe it’s the thought of pie in the air? And probably a fair to do with growing up in apple country. But I consider fall a time for apples and […]

Nachos w/ Banana Truffle Quiche

November 7, 2021

I have been craving peanut butter lately. I can’t exactly explain it. Maybe it’s the crummy weather and needing a comfort food. Maybe it’s the rapid 30 degree shifts in temperature overnight. Or maybe it’s just stress eating! Because life also happens. But all that […]

Burrito w/ Banana & Black Truffle Quiche

November 7, 2021

I adore making crustless quiche. Especially in the fall and winter when the last of the fresh produce is in season, the rain is beginning to set in, and you just need something warm and cosy to bite into! But, as much as I like […]

Quiche w/ Apples, Bananas, & Truffle Gruyère

November 7, 2021

There’s something about fall that makes me crave fruit. When the rest of the world wants pumpkin spice lattes? I’m dreaming of roasted bananas and apples, with maybe just a hint of nutmeg. Perhaps because it’s the tail end of fresh produce season. After toiling […]

Burrito w/ Calabaza Beans, Rice, & Runny Egg

November 4, 2021

This burrito is full of calabaza squash. I’m incredibly fond of calabaza. It’s a very large squash that’s a bright orange hue with a sweeter and heartier flavor than your more typical butternut or pumpkin. Although both can easily be substituted in these recipes. I […]

Scrambled Eggs w/ Queso Fresco Peppers

September 12, 2021

I do not want to go grocery shopping. I have already been to Costco and picked up Greek yogurt, chicken for the dogs, and new pillows. Which have absolutely nothing to do with food! Although nothing that I have picked up is a meal in […]

Scrambled Eggs w/ Blackened Tilapia & Pinto Beans

August 22, 2021

I didn’t actually intend to make tilapia scrambled eggs today. If I’m eating in the morning, it means that I’m in leftover mode. I haven’t gone to the grocery store or begun to cook yet. I have a bunch of disparate meals in my refrigerator […]

Bruschetta w/ Avocado Dip, Tomatoes, & Runny Egg

July 29, 2021

I’ve been calling a lot of things “bruschetta” lately. They. aren’t exactly what I think of when I think of bruschetta! They may be more adeptly open-faced sandwiches. But, at its core, bruschetta is simply toasted bread that is topped. So, the term is somewhat […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
