Surprise Easter 2023
I didn’t necessarily go in knowing what I was going to do or make for Easter. Easter tends to sneak up on me and be a bit of a surprise. It’s always fun to look around at what you have and toss something together. Luckily, […]
This category encompasses both breakfast and brunch.
I’m the kind of person who likes to wake up in the morning and get the ball rolling. I clean. I work out. I go grocery shopping. I get hungry!
I also like to have a lazy Sunday brunch. I work in the restaurant industry. So, I tend to work weekends and am out late at night on Friday and Saturday nights sweating over a hot industrial oven.
I tend to get all of my errands done for the week before my Sunday off. That makes Sundays just my days to do whatever I want. Whether that’s getting a new dresser or sleeping in and sipping mimosas over eggs Benedict.

Quiche is a great thing to bring to holidays and potlucks. It’s good hot right out of the oven. But it’s also good chilled or at room temperature. So, if you’re tight on oven space or want to make something ahead of time, quiche works […]
I didn’t initially go into Easter knowing what I was going to make. I didn’t grow up doing anything too special for the peripheral holidays. Particularly in the Pacific Northwest where it rains so much, big spring barbecue cookouts aren’t as big of a thing. […]
Every now and then breakfast can be a tough meal to toss together. As much as cereal is an American staple, I’m not a big fan of that much sugar in the morning. I tend to crash after eating sweets, which is the exact opposite […]
I’ve been testing my hand out on Fritters lately. They’re reminiscent of a hash brown, but I made these with sweet potatoes, garlic, shallots, and green onions. I have a couple leftover and I’ve been mulling over what to do with them. I have a […]
I didn’t necessarily intend to make sweet potatoes fritters today. I had a multitude of shopping and cooking dilemmas that I needed to sort through before finally deciding on fritters. Although I’m quite glad that I did! Sometimes culinary dilemmas give you just enough constraints […]
I’ve been craving curry lately. And quiche. And maybe a spinach pie. Like a lot of culinary conundrums, my solution is simply to combine absolutely everything together. A curry quiche sounds like something that should exist, though. Curry has such a distinctive flavor that it […]
I roasted Red Hubbard Squash yesterday and now get to spend the rest of the week making all sorts of fun things with squash. Roasted squash is one of my favorite things to toss into just about anything and everything all winter long in. As […]
I like to pick up new and unusual ingredients whenever I come across them. I live in Wisconsin and, despite Milwaukee being a major hub, the diversity of food is somewhat lacking compared to other places that I’m used to living. So, it’s always a […]
Potato bakes have become my new fall favorite dish. There’s something so delicious about potatoes and maybe a little bit of eggs or cheese baked to perfection. Ordinarily I’m a big fan of Crustless Quiches. You can eat them all year round with winter produce […]
