Trying to figure out what to make? Or maybe just some inspiration before going to the grocery store? This Recipes section chronicles everything that I make on a daily basis. The good, the not-quite-so-good, and the sheer and utter failures! I’m joking, of course. There are very few catastrophic failures that cannot be remedied with the right skill, coaching, and presence of good family, friends, pets, and compost bins! But, nevertheless. Cooking is about perseverance and having fun with it.

I’m constantly in search of a new and interesting recipes to make. Even a brief perusal of this Recipes section will give anyone an idea of how much I cook. After a 10, 11 hour shift at work cooking for other people all day? The first thing that I want to do when I get home, my feet aching on concrete floors and my entire body smelling of other people’s food and my own blood, sweat, and tears? Is not to put my feet up and relax! But to crank up the music in my kitchen, pour myself a glass of sauvignon blanc, and start slow cooking a curry! Or make macaroni and cheese from scratch. Or melting cheese all over every single leftover that I have in my fridge in a big plate of nachos.

It’s really why I started this blog. I wanted some way to chronicle my culinary endeavors and preserve them for future reference. After all, if I don’t write down what I did, why I did it, and take pictures for posterity’s sake? I will absolutely never be able to recreate it again. And, if I’m going to go to that much effort just to be able to recreate something that I made in the middle of the night after cracking into a bottle of wine? Maybe you can find some inspiration in it, too.

Part of the point of cooking is to have a community. And my motto is always, if you have to eat? You might as well eat well! So, I hope that this Recipes section can provide some of that community. And inspiration to cook to anyone beyond myself. My eternal desire is not to fall into complacency or boredom. So, if in any way my eternally expanding Recipes section is of any value to anyone beyond myself? I wish you all of the best luck!

Macaroni & Cheese w/ Cheddar, Cream Cheese, & Walnuts

January 25, 2024

I don’t look at a recipe when I make macaroni and cheese. It’s one of those things where you can just start with 1/4 cup butter, 1/4 cup flour, and then just start adding dairy products. I don’t even use milk most of the time. […]

This Refried Pinto Beans Burrito is a pretty simple and straightforward recipe. A lot of the time I use burritos as a quick and easy way to get rid of leftovers. There aren’t too many things that aren’t absolutely delicious wrapped in a tortilla and […]

I didn’t exactly start out making Sweet Potatoes Mexican Rice today. I’ve been making rice and beans together for the last couple of weeks. The peppers in my garden are ripening, so I need to use them while I still have them! I just started […]

Shepherd’s Pie w/ Pinto Beans, Mexican Rice, & Mashed Potatoes

January 14, 2024

I made Slow Cooker Pinto Beans w/ Carolina Reapers and Mexican Rice w/ Cayenne Peppers & Bay Leaves the other day. And I’ve been staring at them in the refrigerator going… “Do you think that this would be good with mashed potatoes??” But it’s also fall, […]

Burrito w/ Carolina Reaper Pinto Beans & Mexican Rice

January 11, 2024

For whatever reason, I’ve been craving cheese in my burritos. I don’t often add cheese. Burritos are kind of my lazy day throw away dish. I’ll really just toss everything that I have leftover in the fridge into a tortilla shell, toast it a little […]

Slow Cooker Pinto Beans w/ Carolina Reapers

January 11, 2024

I’ve just brought most of my plants in for winter. They’re still producing fruit. A couple of the plants are actually producing a lot of fruit. Right now I have an abundance of Carolina reapers. There’s always a chance for cross-pollination among peppers, so you […]

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

Top 5 Overrated Kitchen Gadgets NOT Worth Buying

I hear what you're saying. The holidays are upon us. The overpriced culinary gadgets are finally on sale. But put down that copper pot. Step away from the Vitamix. And rethink that Instant Pot. Your counter space is too precious to spend that much money on things that you'll probably never use! Although, I do have some more useful recommendation, if you still think that you might want an all-purpose cooking contraption or fancy 19th century kitchen. Plus, nothing on this blog is sponsored. I just don't like it when people waste money on cooking fads. NAME ONE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY USES AN AT-HOME PRESSURE COOKER.
